Who We Are

We are in our city, for our city to help people know and follow Jesus. We believe we do this by serving you in a way that reflects Christ's passion and love for you through our four-core values as a church.

What To Expect

A group of people who will welcome and embrace you as you get a cup of coffee and connect in community before service. We will spend approximately an hour-and-a-half singing some songs together and hearing a relevant and applicable message that will help us to know God better.

Our Pastors

Brian and Angel have the marks of what they call a true love story. They met on her parents front porch through a mutual friend in 1997, and the rest is what they call history.

They've been married for a little over 27 years, and they have six amazing children, five beautiful grandchildren, two awesome kid-in-laws, as well as, four dogs and two cats. When they're not serving Sunday's, you'll discover them hosting a Small Group out of their home, spending time together in our community, or away at one of their favorite places to frequent a few times each year: the Great Smoky Mountains.

Brian studied Bible and Theology with an emphasis in leadership at Global University (Springfield, MO). Prior to becoming the Lead Pastor at Sumter First Assembly; they served together for 17 years in pastoral ministry alongside their home church in Charleston, SC.

Their passion is to help people know and follow GOD.

Our Values

01

Know GOD

No matter where you are on journey, God wants a relationship with you. One where you know Him personally, the way He knows you personally. We focus on that relationship each Sunday.

02

Grow Together

Life is done better alongside others in healthy, life-giving friendships. We don't think anyone should do life alone but rather alongside a few others. We find community in Small Groups.

03

Discover Purpose

We're each a vital part of God's plan and life rarely makes sense until we know what His plan is for us. We help you discover His plan as we walk alongside you through Growth Track.

04

Make A Difference

Ultimately, this is God's plan for all of us - that our lives would impact the lives of those beside us and those beyond us. We experience this together as a part of the Dream Team.

Our Beliefs

  • The Bible

We believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, are the verbally inspired words of God to us. They are the revelation of God to man, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and are without error and relevant to the authority of our conduct and faith (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

  • The One True GOD

We believe God has eternally existed as the self-existent "I Am," who has revealed Himself to us in the context of perfect relationship in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 43:10,11, Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:22, 2 Corinthians 13:14).

  • Jesus, the Son

We believe Jesus is the one and only Son of God who came in obedience to the Father. He was born of a virgin, led a sinless life, died a criminals death on the cross, and He came back to life again on the third day; defeating the power of sin and grave (Matthew 28:19-20, Luke 1:26-38, John 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:14-15, 2 Corinthians 5:21).

  • Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the gift Jesus promisded to send to us from the Father. His Presence in our life is the seal of salvation, convicts us concerning sin, God's righteousness, and judgment; produces ongoing life-change in us, and empowers us with gifts of service (Luke 11:13, John 14:16-17, John 16:5-8, Acts 1:8, Ephesians 1:13, 1 Corinthians 12:4-7).

  • Humanity

We believe all people, both male and female, were created in the image and likeness of God. Thereore, all people are worhty of repsect and love. However, we became physically and spiritually separated from Him by our own willful and sinful disobedience (Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 3, Genesis 5:1-2, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23).

  • Salvation

We believe salvation is a free gift that God extends to us by grace alone. It is accepted by our profession and confession of who Christ is and what He has done for us, and it cannot be earned or merited by our own good works (John 1:12, 3:16-17; Acts 2:38, 4:12; Ephesians 2:5-8, Romans 10:9-10).

  • The Church & Its Mission

We believe the church is the body of Christ, of which, Christ is the head. It has received a fourfold mission by GOD to evangelize the world, to gather and worship Him, to equip the saints for the works of ministry, and to show compassion to broken world (Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8, 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:23-25, James 1:27).

  • Spirit-filled & Spirit-led

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as evidence in the New Testament by the physical evidence of speaking in tongues or empowerment of spiritual gifts, and we are encouraged to be led by the Spirit having begun by the Spirit ((Spirit-filled, Acts 2:4, 38; 19:6; 1 Corinthians 14:5; Galatians 5:16-24).

  • Church Ordinances

We believe in and actively participate in two church ordinances: water baptism and communion. Baptism is the initial step of a believer after profession of their faith. It is an outward expression of an inward experience. Communion is the act of remembering who Christ is and what He has done for us until His return; following Jesus' model in the Upper Room (Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 3:3, Acts 2:28, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

  • New Heaven & New Earth

We believe people were created to live forever. In Heaven, we will eternally be connected to God. In Hell, we will be forever separated from Him. Heaven and Hell are two real places of eternal existence (2 Peter 3:13, Revelation 21, Revelation 22).
